I have just come back from a lovely (but cold) weekend in North Norfolk, it was the last day of September and me and M decided to go camping…crazy I know but we always love an adventure and so packed up the car with the tent, champagne, quiz games and a BBQ and headed off! We stayed at the fantastic Deers Glade Caravan and Camping park which is situated in a woodland area in Hanworth, Norfolk (about 5 miles from Cromer). This 5* campsite is like a mini Center Parcs for caravaners and campers. The park is set in private woodland, it has a little shop, play area, mini animal farm and bicycles for hire.
If you are also more into the slightly more glamorous ‘glamping’ then this park is for you as they have their own private section of luxury safari bell tents, camping pods and a shepherds hut in their own secluded part of the park. Also during the summer months you can stay in the adjoining ‘Muntjac Meadow’ where they have a traditional camp fire each evening where people can chat, chill out and toast marshmallows. The facilities here are fantastic, the toilet and shower areas are spotless considering the very reasonable prices to stay.
We explored Cromer & Sheringham (Poppyland), walked on the beach and had chips by the sea. In the evening we started in lovely local pub before heading back to the tent where the drink continued to flow, playing after-dinner trivia quizzes, listening to music and gazing at the stars…pure bliss!
Unfortunately the heavens opened and so we had to head in for the night – the camp has free wifi so we managed to get BBC Iplayer in bed!
I froze, we laughed, we cried – neither of us slept because it was just so darn uncomfortable, but that’s all part of the adventure. We will do it again, but we’ve learnt (the hard way!) that camping is an exclusively summer activity – unless of course you ‘glamp’ – and i certainly have my eye on one of the Bell Tents for our next adventure!
Here are some photos from the adventure + my snapchat story!
